Are you bringing home a Corgi puppy soon? Congratulations! This is such an exciting time, but it’s easy to feel overwhelmed if you’re not fully prepared. At Delaney’s Corgis in Alabama, we want to help every new puppy owner feel confident and ready.

This comprehensive new puppy checklist will make sure you’ve got everything you need before the big day, whether you’re welcoming a Corgi or another small-breed pup.
Must-Have Puppy Supplies
Here’s what every new puppy owner should have ready before their pup comes home:
Home Setup
Crate – Medium-sized with adjustable divider (for crate training)
Washable puppy bed – Soft but chew-resistant
Playpen or baby gates – Helps with setting boundaries
Puppy pads – Especially useful during the early housebreaking stage
Enzyme cleaner – Accidents happen (Nature’s Miracle is a good brand)
Puppy food - I like Iams and Nature's Recipe
Puppy Toys & Chews
Plush toys – Comfort during naps and teething
Chew toys – Like Nylabone or puppy-safe Kongs
Puzzle toys – For mental stimulation and to prevent boredom
Natural chews – Bully sticks, yak chews, or antlers (always supervised)
What to Expect the First Night
The first night can be emotional for your puppy and you! It’s normal for them to cry or whine. Here are a few tips to help them settle:
Put their crate beside your bed
Use a warm blanket or ticking clock
Don’t rush in at every sound, give them a chance to self-soothe
